Ancient Qin Terrace (古琴台)

Qin 琴 (an ancient Chinese musical instrument)

The ancient Qin Terrace is located on the west foot of the Tortoise Mountain. The terrace is also called Boya Terrace because of a famous story. A famous musician in the kingdom of Chu during the Spring and Autumn period, Yu Boya, once played a piece of music here. A logger, ZHONG Ziqi, heard his music and has understood his ambition from the music. Later, the two became good friends. However, when Yu Boya went back to this mountain a few years later, he was extremely sad to know that Zhong Ziqi was died of disease. Knowing that there would be no one else to appreciate the beauty of his music, YU Boya smashed his Qin in pain and never played music. The ancient Qin Terrace was built to remember their friendship. Located at the western foot of the Mountain of the tortoise and the Lake of the Moon, the terrace offers a quiet and beautiful scenery. It is one of the important relics of the city of Wuhan and Hubei Province.
